CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK

If you think, “I don’t need that” than just think about this.

Just a little about me. I am a Captain for one of the largest jet charter companies in the United States, and have been flying professionally now for 10 years. I have spent 20+ years training to be a professional pilot, and I made sure I did everything to achieve that and, more over, to make sure that I did not ruin it.

Now, I had been flying for my present company now for just about 6 months when I had the opportunity to take a transfer within the company that would bring me closer to the ones that I loved the most. For me this is what I had been wanting and hoping for from the time that I got this job. Both my daughter and girlfriend were there, and I needed to get back to be with them.

I had just bought a new house, and was very happy to be back, and starting my new life. I was unpacking my belongings into my house when I got a call from the higher ups in my company saying, you have been grounded until we solve the problem with your background check. “What?” I was shocked and clueless about what they were telling me. After extensive background check, they had advised me that a “Criminal trespassing on a vehicle” had shown up on my record, and I was grounded until it was cleared up.

This was terrifying and potentially damaging to my career as a Professional Pilot. I was not about to let a 3rd party company determine my fate, so I decided to do a little checking of my own. After a week of investigating my own background, I come to find out that someone with my same name in the same city had a warrant out for his arrest for criminal trespass on a vehicle.

Never leave your personal information, in someone elses hands. I personally now check my background every 6 months to avoid anymore surprises. I also do a credit check on myself yearly, and have a service that alerts me of any anomalies in my credit report. This way I am on top of my own credit and background.

My suggestion to anyone that is worried about what might be out there about them is, take action NOW! Don’t wait until someone else tells you that there is misinformation about you out there. I recommend that you do your own background check at least once a year, and a credit check at least once a year.

Luckily for me I had an employer that understood that this was a mistake and I was put back on active flying status.

The time is now to protect yourself, and the ones around you. I did, and will continue to check my background, so that this never happens again.

I would not recommend this unless it worked for me. You might be amazed at what you find out. http://downloadsonline.org/site/govrecords
